Gospel of Paul

Indictment of humanity

J E Bradburn

The Predication of Saint Paul LACMA M.2000.179.24.jpgPaul’s gospel indicted all humanity for the crime of rejecting God and His rightful authority. Under the influence of Adam’s sin, http://www.godsplan.org.uk/book1.htm mankind plunged into the depths of depravity so that they were utterly unable to fulfil the righteous demands of God; and deserved only the wrath of God.

Romans 1:18—32 (KJV)

18 “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness

19 “Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them

20 “For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse http://www.godsplan.org.uk/

21 “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened

22 “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools

23 “And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things

24 “Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves

25 “Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen     http://www.godsplan.org.uk/persecution.htm

26 “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature

27 “And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet

28 “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient

29 “Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers

30 “Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents

31 “Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful

32 “Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do themhttp://www.godsplan.org.uk/satanbound.htm

Romans 3:9—20 (KJV)

09 “What then? Are we better than they? ‘No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;’”

10 “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one

11 “There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God

12 “They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one

13 “Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips

14 “Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness

15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood

16 “Destruction and misery are in their ways

17 “And the way of peace have they not known

18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes

19 “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: ‘that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.’”

20 “Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin

Romans 9: 12—19 (KJV)

12 “It was said unto her,’ The elder shall serve the younger.’”

13 “As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated

14 “What shall we say then? ‘Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid’

15 “For He saith to Moses, ‘I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.’”

16 “So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy

17 “For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, ‘Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew My power in thee, and that My name might be declared throughout all the earth.’”

18 “Therefore hath He mercy on whom He will have mercy, and whom He will He hardeneth

19 “Thou wilt say then unto me, ‘Why doth He yet find fault? For who hath resisted His will?’” http://www.godsplan.org.uk/parables.htm

Salvation is a free gift http://www.godsplan.org.uk/  granted to believers and grounded solely in God’s grace. Salvation is not dependent upon human merit, activity, or effort, but only upon God’s undeserved love.

21 “For since by man came death [Satan], by man came also the resurrection of the dead

22 “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive

38 “But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased Him, and to every seed His own body

39 “All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds

40 “There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another

41 “There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory

42 “So also is the resurrection of the dead. ‘It is sown in corruption; it is raised in in-corruption

43 “It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power

44 “It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.”

45 “And so it is written,’ The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.’”

55 “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory

Will partake fully of the Son’s [Elohim] righteous character

   Phil 3:20-21 (KJV)

20 “For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christhttp://www.godsplan.org.uk/internalspirit.htm

Romans 6:1—7 (KJV)

1 “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound

2 “God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein

3 “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptised into Jesus Christ were baptised into His death

4 “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life

5 “For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His death, we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection

6 “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin

7 “For he that is dead is freed from sin

The Creed

“I believe in the Father, and the Son,

Who died on the stake of crucifixion,

Was dead , and buried in a sepulchre

At the garden of Gethsemane, and

Arose three days later where He now

Sits with His Father in heaven.”

Ephesians 2: 4—5 (KJV)

4 “But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us

Consequently, the believer has been liberated from the power of sin, death, and the Law. He is a new, though imperfect, creation that is continually being made more Christlike.

Colossians 3:9—10 (KJV)

09 “Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds.”

10 “And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of Him that created Him

Although the believer is no longer under the authority of the written Law, the Holy Spirit functions as a new internal law which leads him to naturally and spontaneously fulfil the Law’s righteous demands.

Romans 8:1—4 (KJV)

1 “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit

2 “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death

3 “For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh

4 “That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit

As a result the law free gospel does not encourage unrighteous behaviour in believers. Such behaviour is contrary to their new identity in Christ. The union of believers with Christ brings them into union with other believers in the body of Christ. Believers exercise their spiritual gifts in order to help one another mature, to serve Christ, and glorify Him, which is the highest purpose.

Ephesians 3:21 (KJV) “Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen

Ephesians 4:11—13 (KJV)

11 “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers

13 “Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ

Christ now rules over us as its Head, its highest authority:

Ephesians 1:22 (KJV) “And hath put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the head over all things to the churchhttp://www.godsplan.org.uk/thesufferingsandglory.htm

When Christ comes again, His reign over the world will be consummated and all that exists will be placed under His absolute authority.

2 Thessalonians 1: 5—10 (KJV)

05 “Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also sufferhttp://www.godsplan.org.uk/jezreelvalley21-27twelve.htm

06 “Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you

07 “And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels http://www.godsplan.org.uk/secondadvent.htm
