The End of ‘This Present Evil Age’

Matthew 24:3 (KJV) “And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?”

Galatians 1:4 (KJV) “Who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:”

Christ explained that His return would be preceded by great tribulation:

Matthew 24:21 (KJV) “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.”

Tribulation means: (hardship; great difficulty, affliction, or distress). We are already experiencing it with Covid and the threat of withdrawing paper money

Matthew 24:22 (KJV) “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.”

The unseen hand of the arch-deceiver

As we have seen, the Bible warns us of Satan’s deception of mankind. http://www.godsplan.org.uk/understand.htm Through this deception he has made himself the ruler and god of this present age we now live in. Just before Elohim or (Christ) returns, Jehovah will permit Satan to finally bring about what he started with the original city of ancient Babel or Babylon. http://www.godsplan.org.uk/system.htm

Genesis 11:1, 4 (KJV)

1 “And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.”

4 “And they said, ‘Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.’”

Satan used a man called Nimrod to organise the many small but rapidly expanding tribes of mankind into a system quite different from what Jehovah intended. Nimrod’s kingdom was the first recorded attempt to unite all people into a single empire. His ambitious effort, however, was contrary to Jehovah’s purpose.

Genesis 10:8-12 (KJV)

08 “And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.”

09 “He was a mighty hunter before the Lord: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord.”

10 “And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.”

11 “Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah,”

12 “And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city.”

It was humanity’s first attempt to thwart (to prevent Jehovah’s plan from being successful) Jehovah’s desire to give each family group its own territory as an inheritance.

Genesis 10:32 (KJV) “These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.”

Jehovah wanted mankind to make use of the extended family as the foundation for organisation and structure. Nimrod, however, persuaded the people of his time to reject Jehovah’s plan in favour of a single empire supported by a military force. Nimrod’s followers lacked faith in Jehovah’s protection, leadership, and way of life. They wanted to decide for themselves how the earth should be organised and governed. They preferred to remain as one people and organise themselves without family distinctions (a difference between two or more people or things, or the recognition of such a difference).

2 “And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.”

3 “And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar.”

4 “And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.”

What was Jehovah’s reaction? He intervened in the incident at the Tower of Babel and, by confusing their language, compelled earth’s early inhabitants to scatter and form separate nations as He had intended.

Genesis 10:6-8 (KJV)

6 “And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan.”

7 “And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtechah: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan.”

8 “And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.”

Ever since, Jehovah’s prophets have used the term Babylon as a symbolic representation of Satan’s dominion through human government, culture, and religion.

During the latter days of the kingdom of Judah, in the sixth century B.C., the ancient city of Babylon expanded its power to become the dominant regional empire under the leadership of King Nebuchadnezzar II. At the time of the end, Satan, for a brief time, will again organise several blocs of nations into significant world powers.

Revelation 9:16-18 (KJV)

16 “And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.”

17 “And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.”

18 “By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.”

Revelation 17:12-13 (KJV)

12 “And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.”

13 “These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.”

The symbolic beast will rise again

Revelation 12:3 (KJV) “And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.”

It describes his attempt to destroy Christ [Elohim} shortly after his birth:

13 “And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, ‘Arise, and take the young child and His mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy Him.”

14 “When he arose, he took the young child and His mother by night, and departed into Egypt:”

15 “And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, ‘Out of Egypt have I called My son.’”

16 “Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.”

At length the scene shifts to the time of the end.

Revelation 12:12 (KJV) “Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.”

Revelation 13:1 (KJV) “And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.”

This beast reflects characteristics of four similar beasts mentioned in one of Daniel’s prophetic visions.

Daniel 7:1-28 (KJV)

1 “In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters.”

2 “Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.”

3 “And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.”

4 “The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it.”

5 “And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.”

6 “After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.”

7 “After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.”

8 “I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.”

26 “But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.”

28 “Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.”

The apostle John, who wrote the book of Revelation, further describes the beast as he saw it:

Revelation 13:2 (KJV) “And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.”

Satan (the Enemy) is the power behind the scenes (and his seat is NATO: World Health Organisation, amongst others). This end time political and military alliance will reflect many features of the four ancient empires that began with King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon.

The beast that you saw [having the same characteristics as the four beasts in Daniel 7, and represent ancient [Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome] was. and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go into perdition. And those left on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that then was, and is not, and yet is.

Revelation 17:3—5 (KJV)

3 “So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.”

4 “And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:”

5 “And upon her forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon The Great, The Mother Of Harlots And Abominations Of The Earth.”

With the fall of Rome, that ancient system supposedly came to an end—as if mortally wounded. But its surprising revival, from the ashes of the Roman Empire, is described here in the book of Revelation.

Revelation 13:3 (KJV) “And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.”

Notice the power and influence this satanically guided governing system will wield in the last days. (Hitler looking for the third Reich came close) Now Satan is looking for the fourth Reich and will almost achieve it). Another Beast

Revelation 13: 11—12 (KJV)

11 “And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.”

12 “And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.”

The time of the end of Satan’s reign on earth will be marked by human suffering and man-made, also natural catastrophes unparalleled in history.

This beast claims to represent Christ—the true Lamb of Jehovah but actually speaks for Satan concerning which people are to worship.

Revelation 13:3—5 (KJV)

3 “And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.”

4 “And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, ‘Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?’”

5 “And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.” [3^1/2 years]

This beast is also pictured as a fallen woman, harlot:

The fallen woman sits on and guides the first beast (the alliance of 10kings, rulers of nations or groups of nations). She is the world’s chief advocate (to support or speak in favour of something) of Satan’s disgraceful doctrines

(a rule or principle that forms the basis of a belief, theory, or policy) [Similar to Covid] She artfully preserves the pagan mysteries—the fundamentals of ancient Babylon’s religion—in her traditions and teachings. She will be a fierce advocate of these ancient religious customs and practices at the end of this age, again making them internationally popular.

Who is this spiritual harlot? Revelation 17:18 (KJV) “And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.”

The ancient cities of Babylon and Rome controlled vast empires, subjecting many nations and kings to their traditions and culture. Prophecy reveals that a modern city will assume a similar role at the time of the end.

This city will be powerfully influenced in this world’s religions, political, and economic arenas. By the time the fallen woman—this Babylon the Great—is destroyed by Christ, it will be the case that “all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury.”

Revelation 18:3 (KJV) “For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.”

This is a religious power that will influence every level of society. For a time she will be the pacesetter for the world. She is:

Revelation 17:1—2 (KJV)

1 “And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:”

2 “With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.”

Revelation 12:9 (KJV) “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”

Revelation 17:15 (KJV) “And he saith unto me, ‘The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.’”

Satan will also use the leaders of these two beasts to convince the world that a new political and religious alliance is the key to lasting international peace [freedom from war, or the time when a war or conflict ends]: (if you can believe this, you can believe anything). But the entire system will be built on concepts that appeal to human reasoning, lust and vanity, while rejecting the revealed laws and ways of Jehovah. Partly for that reason, the book of Revelation aptly defines this end time advocate of Satan’s traditions as “Babylon the Great.”

Revelation 16:19 (KJV) “And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.”

Revelation 18:2 (KJV) “And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.”

The attitude of rulers and other people who embrace Satan’s principles are:

Psalm 2:1—3 (KJV)

1 “Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?” [Devoid of substance or meaning].

2 “The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against His anointed, saying,” [to install somebody officially or ceremonially in a position or office]

3 “Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.” Satan’s political and religious systems are rooted in his conviction that man has the right to decide for himself what is right and wrong.

Satan will never willingly relinquish his powerful influence over mankind. This is why the world will experience the terrifying time prophesied by Christ—a time that, if not cut short, would lead to the extinction of human life.

Matthew 24:21-22 (KJV)

21 “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.”

22 “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.”

Satan the master deceiver, often deludes human agents into marketing his deceptive arguments. He uses them to champion his basic concepts (Something thought or imagined). At the time of the end, Satan’s philosophy will be vigorously promoted as mankind’s final hope (extremely strong and active, physically or mentally) for world peace and security. It will be championed as the world’s greatest opportunity to work together for the good of all.

1 Thessalonians 5:2—3 (KJV)

2 “For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.”

3 “For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.”

Scripture refers to Satan’s main advocate in the time of the end (to support or speak in favour of something) as the “man of sin”…, the son of perdition (hell itself as a location), who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God Jehovah or that is worshiped, so that he sits as god in the temple of god, showing himself that he is god.

2 Thessalonians 2:3—4 (KJV)

4 “Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as god sitteth in the temple of god, shewing himself that he is god.”

His efforts will be “according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. “And for this reason Jehovah will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie.”

2 Thessalonians 2:9-11 (KJV)

09 “Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,”

10 “And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.”

11 “And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:”

This man’s persuasive powers will be enormous. [Notice the Great White Throne accompanied by the two statues of arch angels Michael and Gabriel].

Tragically, multitudes from all nations will believe his clever lies. They will enthusiastically endorse the concepts of Satan introduced at the Tower of Babel. They will be thoroughly deluded into believing deceptive assurances that these satanic concepts will produce world peace and harmony.

A time of worldwide conflict

But those false promises of lasting peace and security will be short lived. Satan’s end-time political kingdom will have a fatal flaw that will rip its unity apart. Jehovah revealed to the prophet Daniel, that in its final phase, the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to each other, just as iron does not adhere to clay.

Daniel 2:42—43 (KJV)

42 “And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.”

43 “And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.”

Revelation 16: 12-14 (KJV)

12 “And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.”

13 “And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.”

14 “For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.” [Jehovah]

Daniel 12: 1 (KJV) “And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.”

Jeremiah 31: 7-10 (KJV)

You must remember that the apostle John, in his vision concerning Satan’s part in end time events, heard a voice:

Revelation 12:12 (KJV) “Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.”

Satan’s intentions embody no concern for the welfare of human beings. He wants to use the factions of humanity for war, not peace. 14 “And the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.”

15 “And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.” [Jehovah]

16 “And He hath on His vesture and on His thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.”

Zechariah 14:3—4 (KJV)

3 “Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.”

4 “And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.”

Revelation 16:14 (KJV) “For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.”

This “great day of god Almighty; Jehovah” also called the “Day of the Lord” in the Scriptures. These terms, in this context, refer to the time just before Christ returns when Jehovah will punish a defiant humanity for its rebellion. It is the time when the nations inSatan’s system will bring on themselves the just wrath of God {Jehovah and Elohim]

Revelation 14:9—10 (KJV)

09 “And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, ‘If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,’”

10 “The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of His indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:”

A large faction in this final battle (a group that is a minority within a larger group and has interests or beliefs that are not always in harmony with the larger group)—the beast power supported by a coalition of ten rulers—will amass its armies on the plain near the ancient military stronghold of Megiddo in northern Israel.

Revelation 16:16 (KJV) “And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.”

The very word Armageddon (the Greek form of the Hebrew Har Megiddo) has become a term for a vast and decisive battle that threatens all life on the planet. That was the point of Christ’s statement about the time of the end. Daniel 12:1 (KJV) “And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.”

Without Christs intervention to rescue the world from Satan’s cunning and man’s foolishness, human life would be annihilated. Maybe this seems too much of a presupposition (To believe that a particular is true, before any proof is offered) to take seriously. But it is real. It will happen.

1 Thessalonians 5: 2—3 (KJV)

2 “For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.”

3 “For when they shall say, ‘Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.’”

When the world’s final effort for international unity to ensure “peace and safety” falls apart, a world war unlike man has ever seen will result. After a brief period of unimaginable destruction, Christ will intervene to prevent human annihilation.

Matthew 24:22 (KJV) “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.”

Jehovah will humble the nations

Why must the world come to this tragic state? What is Jehovah’s purpose in the cataclysmic of what the Bible calls “the great and awesome day of the Lord”

Joel 2:31 (KJV) “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come.”

Jehovah’s ultimate goal has always been to bring all people to repentance. But a repentant humanity is impossible as long as most people follow Satan’s lead in proudly exalting human opinions and traditions above the teaching of the living God Jehovah.

2 Peter 3:9 (KJV) “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

Isaiah 2:12 (KJV) “For the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:”

Before returns to assume rulership over the earth, Jehovah plans to humble all people who will respond to His correction. Isaiah 2:11 (KJV) “The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day” Haughtiness (behaving in a superior, condescending, or arrogant way).

Through their trauma Jehovah will prepare a humbled people who will willingly accept Christ’s leadership and teaching when He returns. Through the prophet Zephaniah, Jehovah explained that He uses catastrophes to humble people:

08 “Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the Lord, ‘until the day that I rise up to the prey: for My determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them Mine indignation, even all My fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of My jealousy.’”

09 “For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the Lord, to serve Him with one consent.”

10 “From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia My suppliants, even the daughter of My dispersed, shall bring Mine offering.”

11 “In that day shalt thou not be ashamed for all thy doings, wherein thou hast transgressed against Me: for then I will take away out of the midst of thee them that rejoice in thy pride, and thou shalt no more be haughty because of My holy mountain.”

12 “I will also leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall trust in the name of the Lord.”

Though this passage is specifically directed toward the end-time remnant of Israel and Judah, it graphically (including a number of vivid descriptive details, especially exciting or unpleasant ones) illustrates how and why Jehovah humbles the proud and arrogant. Through the prophet Ezekiel, Jehovah explained why he urges mankind to repent and turn from sin:

Ezekiel 33:14—15 (KJV)

14 “Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right;”

15 “If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die.”

Isaiah 39:20 (KJV) “And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the Lord.” Isaiah illustrates the same principle.

On the other hand, Jehovah promises no such rescue for those who reject His correction and refuse to repent of their arrogant and rebellious ways. They will receive no divine protection from the horrendous destruction that will ravage the earth:
